Major Midget 2008
The North York Midgets won the CABA State 18u Tournament in Michigan this past weekend (June 27-29). The Midgets won three games via mercy and scored 43 runs against their opponents. Brendan Lynch pitched two complete games and Justin Newbold hit a grand slam home run.
On Sunday June 22nd, Jake Mooney hit for the cycle in a 14-0 mercy victory over the Team Ontario Women at Bond Park. Jake led off the game with a homerun blast over the right-centre fence, was thrown out at the plate trying to stretch a triple into an inside-the-park homerun, grounded out, singled, and then doubled in the 7th inning.
On Friday June 6th, Jake Mooney pitched a no-hitter for five innings in a 12-0 mercy victory over High Park at Christie Pits. Jake allowed only one walk and struck out 9.
On Tuesday June 10th, the Midgets' very next game, Mitch Sutton pitched a no-hitter for seven innings in a 1-0 victory over York at Keelesdale. Mitch allowed only one walk and one hit-by-pitch. He struck out 10.
